January/early February was a busy time for me. I was working on an all new mural for the freshly renovated performance space at the Charles Bailey Theatre in Trail, under the umbrella of Selkirk college, and the Trail Arts Council (shout out to Nelson and District Arts Council). We wrestled with a few ideas and finally settled on a remix of one of my previous pieces, “Improvisational”. The original was commissioned by the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, and measured 3ft x 6ft. I blew it up and distorted it slightly for the composition of the wall. I wanted to camouflage the doors. It transferred into a mural quite readily, and the clients were happy with the results! My sister Rachelle Unrau assisted me, so I could get it all completed under the time constraints, and I was able to complete the piece in 13 work days. I took weekends off though.
I’m happy with the results.
